Bumper corner and tailgate dents
Backing into a pole or a low wall leaves a soft dent in a bumper corner or a tailgate. Many of those come out without paint, right in the driveway.

Tailgates and hatches
A tailgate or hatch is a metal panel with a frame behind it, so it behaves like a door. Dents from a bike rack, a garage door or a reversing mistake are often a good paintless repair. The Mini Cooper above is a typical example: a sharp dent next to the badge, worked back flat with the factory paint left alone.
Plastic bumper corners
Most modern bumpers are plastic covers. A soft dent in a bumper corner can often be warmed and pushed back into shape from behind. It's everyday work as long as the cover isn't torn and the paint hasn't cracked or turned white at the stress point.
What decides whether it can be done
- Paint condition. Cracked or flaking paint means refinishing.
- Access. Some bumper covers have to come off to reach the back of the dent. That adds time and is reflected in the price.
- Sensors. Parking sensors and cameras near the dent are worked around carefully, never over.
Price and timing
Bumper and tailgate dents are quoted from a photo. Most sit inside the usual $150 to $650 range and take 30 minutes to 2 hours.
